ABOUT THE PROJECT

Role purpose 

Data & Analytics Office (DAO) promotes a data-driven culture across the company through our strategy of:

  • Protect: To protect their data they need robust policies for data management and enhanced governance e.g. data that is consumed from a trusted source, meets quality standards, and complies with regulatory obligations.
  • Connect: Move to a data-led culture through enhanced training including on the job opportunities. Their talent is the glue between protecting their data and unlocking value for their customers.
  • Unlock: Value is unlocked when they deliver on the opportunities their well-managed data presents e.g. improving customer / colleague experience, increasing revenue, commercialising their data, optimising capital, enhancing risk management or reducing costs.

The Lead Data Privacy and Protection Manager primarily supports the Protect pillar of the strategy.

Key priorities include:

  • Data Privacy and Protection support for the United Kingdom.
  • Manage and support a wide range of data privacy-related matters and issues across the UK by providing fit for purpose solutions that enables Group DAO and broader teams to execute DAO data strategy.
  • Engaging with privacy subject matter experts globally and across the European region in particular.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES 

Key responsibilities include some of but not limited to:

  • Oversee and manage data shared service units or support teams
  • Support company businesses on data matters which include data privacy
  • Manage the identification of strategic and operational improvements in data privacy
  • Develop, manage and maintain data privacy standards, policies and methodologies e.g. Data Sharing Controls, Sharing Agreement Inventory, Data Sharing and Privacy Policy, Data Ethics Privacy Principles
  • Support and participate in efforts to ensure data privacy practices in the company help support business decision making
  • Perform privacy assessments of operational processes, identifying, and mitigating risks across the company through effective tools, training and guidance
  • Support the development and delivery of data privacy controls based on data policies that assure the compliant use of data and information globally
  • Embed Data Privacy Controls across UK Bank Plc
  • Monitor and advise on Key Control Indicators and other MI used to analyse the likelihood and severity of Data Privacy risks
  • Act as a role model on data privacy laws, working collaboratively with Legal Data Privacy and Regulatory Compliance to communicate on data risk policies.
  • Provide support and subject matter expertise to Data Protection Officers, Group Data Privacy Legal teams and Group Data Services and others relating to data privacy risks and issues.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE THEY REQUIRE  

  • Detailed knowledge of European data privacy laws, including the GDPR and the e-Privacy Directive.
  • Solid knowledge of major international Laws and Regulations impacting data privacy.
  • Ability to practically apply privacy laws to real world scenarios, providing simple, comprehensible and measurable guidance and solutions to privacy related queries.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, understand technology especially across privacy enhancing technologies
  • Strong relationships skills / ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities
  • Proven track record of taking ownership / responsibility for work and be comfortable working independently
  • Ability to identify and mitigate privacy risks with the ability to understand materiality of risks and prioritise / differentiate response accordingly
  • Flexible approach to working hours and environment
  • Resourceful, creative, inquisitive and applies a team centric approach to highly complex tasks.
