ABOUT THE ROLE

Do you have analytical mind and like solving quantitative problems? Can you extract statistical insights from the data? If so then the Independent Model Review (IMR) team at our client’s company could be your best match. IMR is a specialist quantitative group within Model Risk Management department, that is responsible independent for validation of different model types.
They are currently looking for a candidate to join one of their functions responsible for validation of ESG and Climate Risk models. This is a relatively nascent area with the growing focus in the financial industry. This role will give the opportunity to be directly involved in shaping up new, bespoke risk management solutions through the reviews of internal models as well as research of industry best practices and collaboration with third parties.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Independent validations of ESG and Climate Risk models, including but not limited to the following: climate change simulation models, counterparty-level transition and financial models, nature hazard models, physical risk models, climate scenario models, emission pathway models and ESG scorecards across various lines of business.
  • Quantitative and qualitative research with focus on development and validation of Climate Risk models
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE THEY REQUIRE
  • Academic degree (MSc or PhD) – good fits are: Statistics, Mathematics, Environmental Science, Physics, Econometrics, Quantitative Finance, or related fields.
  • Work experience in any of the following: independent model validation, model development, quantitative research, sustainable investing in the financial sector or equivalent corporate experience.
  • Programming skills – knowledge of one of the following: R, Python, SAS or Matlab.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
OPTIONAL/NICE TO HAVE
  • Professional qualifications (e.g. CFA, PRM, FRM, CQF) are beneficial
  • Prior climate modelling experience is nice to have though not required
