Chief Control Officer for European Finance Centre

The Chief Control Officer primary responsibility is to ensure that a robust control environment is in place as well as working closely with Senior Stakeholders in HBCE and HBEU on driving the control agenda across the region. The Chief Control Officer is responsible in driving the effective governance and management of Financial Reporting Risk.

The purpose of these role is to be part of HBEU Control Office Team in their day to day operations as well as being key point of contact for regional Control Officers leads in the region.

What you’ll do

  • Identification of Risks and related appropriate controls impacting Financial Reporting Risk in the Region and other non-financial risks.
  • Support the CFO’s and Financial Controllers in leading the controls governance process across the region.
  • Assist with the RMM/RMC/ non-executive committee processes.
  • Expansion of risks and controls to a wider suite of reporting, such as Regulatory reporting, Treasury and Internal MI, ensuring controls and designed and operated in a way commensurate with the risk.
  • Lead the identification, assessment and remediation of key regional thematic control issues.
  • Lead control improvement initiatives ensuring practical and workable solutions and best practices are suitably shared.
  • Build a strong and productive relationship with Risk Stewards/2LOD teams across the Region.
  • Lead and develop an effective Control team through communication, performance management, development plans and reward/recognition practices.

What you need to have to succeed in this role

  • Proven finance or audit experience.
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to exercise leadership.
  • Experience of working in a Financial Control function within a Bank.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial issues confidently to management and other senior stakeholders both written and verbally.
  • Ability to provide structure and solution to problematic areas, to challenge information presented, providing reasoned explanation to ensure that agreement is reached by both parties.
  • Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to consider wider environment and consider strategic changes to current operations to enhance delivery without impacting level of control.
  • Able to cope with pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Fluent written and spoken English language.
