ABOUT THE PROJECT

  • Own relationships with business and technology customers and stakeholders to design, deliver and operate services which utilize appropriate infrastructure solutions, while ensuring they are efficient, cost optimal and highly resilient
  • Drive the implementation of DevOps, disciplined Agile, andautomation to efficiently deliver products and services
  • Define the platform’s architecture and strategy, and transform services to next generation solutions including transition to Software Defined Networking (SD WAN)
  • Driving improvements to contribute to IT’s Vision 27 Transformation programme, delivering improvements across key pillars of speed, scale, resilience and people
  • Consolidate and reduce infrastructure complexity
  • Develop Cloud based platforms and deliver infrastructure “as a Service” by working with business and other DevOps teams
  • Define global engineering standards and drive standardization
  • Manage all vendors, including global carriers, hardware/software suppliers, and a major network managed service provider
  • Ensure service quality targets are met and drive continuous improvement
  • Ownership of budget and approval flow, and vendor risk management
  • Manage and develop a global team of c.25, including coaching and mentoring to move to an engineering driven organization
  • Adhere to risk management, controls and compliance standards
  • Maintain the significant global estate through evergreening
  • Influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders (CIO, COO, CEOs) and business partners, building strong relationships to ensure consensus and influence change outcomes. Fosters open and honest communication which anticipates stakeholder expectations
  • Partnering with Senior Technology and business stakeholders in reacting to delivery challenges and recommending and managing resolution plans
  • Partnering and influencing senior stakeholders in delivering continuous improvement to CTO
  • Effective relationships established with the business and value creation established through partnerships
  • Optimised delivery of the CTO platform and products/services
  • Reacting to change in a structured Agile manner
  • Supporting the Operations teams to meet agreed service levels
  • Fully transparent project reporting in a manner appropriate for stakeholders and GB/GFs

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Customers/Stakeholders

  • Ensures close and effective working relationships with Operations, Product Management and Global Fulfilment
  • Builds trusted relationships with senior leadership across Telecommunication Services, the global CTO function, and functional heads across Technology and the businesses
  • Establishes effective mechanisms for decision making and for appropriate escalation of information to appropriate
    management
  • Feedback from stakeholders and peers
  • Successful impact on business, organization and profitability
  • Impact on the company’s internal and external perception

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Actively encourages a learning culture, encouraging collaboration and cross-functional working to develop colleagues across the global CTO community

  • Recruits and retains high calibre, diverse team members, developing the capacity, capacity and talent to provide for
    succession and ensure delivery of CTO objectives

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Ensures appropriate oversight mechanisms and high standards of internal control
  • Build collaborative rleationships, defines and atriculate to stakeholdres the targeted benefits for organisational change intervention. Communicate changes in policy and governance effectively, reinforcing risk processes within the team
  •  Leads the development of metrics to track and measure the delivery and impact of engagement programmes, sharing insights with the Cybersecurity leadership team
  • Enhances operational controls through constructive identification and challenging of issues
  • Ensure adherence to all set governance and policies
  • Effective oversight mechanisms
  • Creates an environment that anticipates risk, ensuring action is taken to quantify, mitigate and remediate risks
  • Implements best practice in policies and governance frameworks in area of responsibility

Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements)

  • Ensure the fair treatment of the company’s customers is at the heart of everything they do, both personally and as an organisation
  • This will be achieved by consistently displaying the behaviours that form part of the company’s Values and Culture, adhering to their risk policies and procedures, including notification and escalation of any concerns, and taking required action in relation to points raised by audit and/or external regulators
  • Be responsible for managing and mitigating operational risks in their day to day operations. In executing these responsibilities, the Group has adopted risk management and internal control structure referred to as the ‘Three Lines of Defence’. The jobholder should ensure they understand their position within the Three Lines of Defence, and act accordingly in line with operational risk policy, escalating in a timely manner where they are unsure of actions required
  • Through the implementation the Global AML, Sanctions andABC Policies, supporting Guidance, and Line of Business Procedures the jobholder will make informed decisions in accordance with the core principles of Financial Crime Risk Appetite

SKILLS &EXPERIENCE THEY REQUIRE

  • The jobholder will adhere to, and be able to demonstrate adherence to, internal controls and will implement the Group compliance policy by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply
    • This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators
  • The jobholder will implement measures to contain compliance risk across the business area.
    • This will be achieved by liaising with Compliance department about business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in placeand training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators
  • Strong depth and breadth of technology knowledge, with direct experience of managing complex global data networks
  • Excellent vendor and carrier management
  • Track record of delivering complex and large scale technology transformation programmes. SD WAN experience preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate transformational leadership to support a transition into Agile/DevOps practice, and uplifting organizational delivery capability
  • Stakeholder management skills with a focus on building consultative relationships, and collaborating directly with a variety of customers and colleagues at all levels of seniority (business, development, compliance, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to develop, influence, lead and drive teams to deliver
  • Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely, suitable for all levels across the company’s group
  • Gravitas and ability to interact with senior executives, including Business Leads, and Country/Regional CIOs
  • Degree level education or equivalent
  • Management level experience of 10+ years
  • Advanced English language required
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing activities, schedules and work loads
  • Ability to simultaneously coordinate and complete multiple projects through an organized and process oriented approach
  • Respectful of different cultures, and experience of working with colleagues in global teams from different countries
