Overview:

The Corporate Treasury & Finance Risk team is an important pillar of The Treasury Risk Management (TRM) Second Line of Defense team for balance sheet risk for the company. The team provides subject matter expert oversight over Treasury activities specific to Capital, Stress Testing, Recovery and Resolution and Financial planning in the form of strategy, policies and analysis to support effective risk management. This includes collaborative and critial thinking with Treasury and Global business (the First Line of Defence) to ensure early identification and remediation of emerging risks. They are maturing their Stewardship over their Corporate Treasury and Finance Risks in 2024 and are looking for a dynamic and skilles Subject Matter Expert to join the team.

TRM is looking to grow through 2024 in support of their stewardship capabilities. Poland will play a role in the overall footprint of the organization. Team members will be tackle a variety of the balance sheet risk for the complex bank. Ideal candidates will progres in providing stewardship and oversight over Stress Testing and Recovery and Resolution planning activities across all Treasury risks, including Capital, Liquidity, Funding, Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB), Markets Treasury, Non trading book FX, Insurance and Pension Risk.

The selected candidate will support the Capital Risk team in providing independent risk oversight of processes relating to capital risk management, measurement, and reporting. The role holder will also work closely with the Capital Risk Assurance function to ensure control design and operating effectiveness across a range of Financial and non-Financial Risk processes. This role requires a deep understanding of capital risk, in terms of both first-hand management, the reporting of capital risks, understanding of best practice and regulatory expectations in capital management as the Second Line of Defence.

What you’ll do:
  • Support the development and execution of a comprehensive and granular program of capital Second Line of Defence, working closely with Global Treasury and Group and Regional Capital Risk Stewards ensuring appropriate measurement, monitoring and management of capital.
  • Support the independent and effective review and challenge of key Capital processes (including ICAAP, Recovery and Resolution Planning, regulatory reporting) and capital programmes of work. Provide subject matter expertise, advice, guidance, and effective challenge to the Risk and Control Owners.
  • Perform detailed analysis of key capital processes and MI and draw insightful conclusions to inform and contribute to effective review and challenge.
  • Support the activities of the Assurance team, and review and challenge the outputs from their capital assurance activities.
  • Contribute to the ownership of the Capital Risk and Control Library, including minimum control standards, with input from Risk Owners, and Control Owners, specifying key risks and key controls and providing guidance on continuous monitoring expectations.
  • Support the oversight of Regulatory Reporting Risk (RRR) for Capital. Regulatory Reporting Risk is the risk that reports or notifications to Regulators are not submitted, are submitted late, or are incorrect.
  • Support the review of the capital risk management policies, limits, standards, controls, metrics and thresholds and ensure they are within the defined corporate standards approved by the Board and ALCO.
  • Actively review changes in regulatory capital requirements and assess how this may affect risk appetite for the company. Build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders across Risk, Group Treasury, Markets Treasury and front-line businesses.

What you need to have:
  • Practical experience of capital risk management within a large international firm in either the First or Second Line of Defence.
  • Strong knowledge of capital regulations and reporting requirements as well as Capital planning and forecasting, Risk Appetite setting, Capital Stress Testing, ICAAP and Recovery Planning.
  • Advanced analysis techniques including experience of working / manipulating large data sets.
  • Ability to interpret complex risk reports from multiple sources, identify key material risks and draw insightful conclusions.
  • Advanced understanding of reporting requirements, data lineage, systems and architecture within a bank will be advantageous.
  • Understanding of incoming regulatory directives impacting Treasury.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player, Ability to form strong working relationships.
  • Strong organizational, control, project management, communication and negotiation skills.
